Counter Strike: Global Offensive

Counter-Strike:Global Offensive is the long awaited sequel to one of the best competitive FPS games in the world. Rumors have been circulating for years with many fans dubbing it CS 2.0. It strives to integrate the best features from CS 1.6 and CS:S while adding a large number of competitive eSports features. The official press release is due around 2PM PST August 12, 2011.

What do we know so far?

Luckily for us, Valve has invited quite a few eSport big-timers to its headquarters to try out the game before it is announced. They have been teasing us with bits of information here and there, but so far, this is what we know:

*Targetted for release via Playstation Network, Xbox Live Arcade, and Steam (PC & MAC) in Q1 2012 (source: Valve)

*New gameplay modes, matchmaking, leader boards (source: Valve)
*Playable at PAX Prime (Aug 26-28) and Eurogamer Expo (Sep 22-25) (source: Valve)

*SMGs and Shotguns are being tweaked to increase viability (source: ESEANews)
*NEW ITEM: Molotov Cocktails ($850) - AOE fire damage (source: ESEANews)
